Sylvia Barata: The founder and owner of ATS. Born and raised in the Bay Area, she traveled north to Washington State where she attended Whitworth College and graduated in 74. Her tax career began in 1975 with the Internal Revenue Service. During her ten years with them, she answered tax questions, instructed IRS employees, monitored the toll-free line for accuracy, supervised, and made public appearances as the media relations tax expert and more. Her achievements were often recognized with awards culminating with "Federal Employee of the Year" in 1985 after which she left their employment and ventured out on her own. Soon there after she received the title of "Enrolled Agent." for the past twenty years Sylvia has been preparing tax returns, counseling troubled taxpayers and finding impossible solutions. To enhance her business, she now offers personal financial analysis and customized financial plans to better help her clients reach their dreams. Her clients are her life. Not only is Sylvia charming, witty and technically competent, she possesses the ability to make others feel at ease and hopeful. She understands the special rules for clergy, people with disabilities, foreign tax issues, as well as the concerns and needs of small business owners. Her talents are many, both at work and at play. When Sylvia is not working, she loves music, traveling, and the wonderful world of Disney, and experiences life to the fullest.

 
 
Rudy Ramirez: A seasoned tax preparer of ATS. He joined the staff in 1992 and is celebrating thirteen years of service. Originally from the state of Texas, Rudy has been a California resident since 1951 His primary career was in maintaining machines and designing tools and dyes. Upon retiring at an early age, he embarked on a second career in taxation. He successfully completed tax courses and worked closely with the founder and owner of ATS, Sylvia Barata (his daughter). He was trained, coached, and indoctrinated into the philosophy of the business. Rudy brings a youthful, energetic and charming personality to ATS. His desire to help the clients and educate them earns him the title of Tax Angel. Rudy also fluently speaks Spanish as a second language.  
 

Anne Arms: Comes to ATS with many years of tax experience. She is embarking on her fourth year with ATS. She originally hails from the sunshine state of Florida, where she graduated from Stetson University, began a teaching career, a family, and a mariner's life. As a Navy wife, she traveled around the world and settled in San Diego. In 1975 she began her second career in taxation. For twelve years she worked as a tax preparer, office supervisor, and course instructor for a well known national tax franchise followed by thirteen years as a tax preparer for a private firm in the San Diego area. In 1987 she earned the title of "Enrolled Agent" after successfully completing and passing all phases of the Federally administered Enrolled Agent Exam. Prior to moving to Vallejo in 1998 she was active with the Inland Society of Tax Consultants, serving as San Diego Chapter President in 1995. Now she is active with the North Bay Chapter of the California Society of Enrolled Agents, serving as Chapter President 2002-2003. Anne is a delightful and charming person who brings expertise, personality, and sincerity to her clients. Her specialty is preparing tax returns for individuals and fiduciary returns for estates and trusts. Anne enjoys sailing, traveling, gardening, family, and church.

 
 

Darleen Rose:  Our Office Manager and Administrative Assistant to Sylvia Barata arrived at ATS in 2001 with many years of office manager experience. She has one daughter and four grandchildren. One of her great desires is to see a cure for breast cancer found, so she is involved with Relay for Life. She also loves music, enjoys comedic films, and when she has the time she puts together fabulous Italian and Mexican meals. She is extremely well organized, highly competent and watches over the office “Tax Angels”.

 

 

Barbara Horton: Our Financial Client Relations Manager arrives at ATS with many years of Office Management and Financial experience. She is a California native and grew up here in silicon Valley before it was Silicon Valley. She has over ten years experience in Office Management and has spent the last five years specializing in Financial Management. Prior to her career in Finance she was co-owner of a small business with her husband. She has two daughters in college. She has been active in local politics and was on the Planning Commission for the City of Hercules. Her fondest wish is to see her clients gain financial freedom She is extremely well organized, highly competent, and is passionate about her work. She is an avid Sprint and NASCAR race fan, and loves traveling and reading.
